(KSL News) The teenager who fell nearly 200 feet while hiking in Big Cottonwood Canyon earlier this week, is out of intensive care.

Eric Fogg remains on heavy pain medication, but doctors say he's recovering well at a local hospital.

Fogg has revealed some details as to what happened Monday night. Fogg and his best friend James Henrie were hiking in the Twin Peaks area when he says they somehow got off trail. Fogg slipped and fell 100 to 200 feet and landed in a ravine.

Henrie tried to climb down to help Fogg but he too slipped and fell 450 feet and died.

Fogg didn't see or hear his friend fall and didn't know what had happened until he was rescued.

Fogg suffered a fractured skull, broken arm, broken wrist and two severely cut-up knees.
