(KSL News) -- A leaking propane tank shut down a few businesses tonight in Ogden. The tank is at the Flying J at 11th West and 21st Street.

The emergency gas relief valve on the tank failed and sent a lot of propane into the air.

At first, investigators worried that a spark could cause a huge explosion, so they evacuated a nearby McDonalds and several other businesses. That threat passed with a little help from Mother Nature.

Capt. Klint Anderson, Weber County Sheriff's Dept.: "One of the fortunate things is the weather. Having this breeze means the gas dissipates quickly and that helps mitigate the fire and explosive danger."

Right now crews are off-loading the propane into tankers. They hope to have that job done by midnight.

Tomorrow investigators will determine what caused the valve to fail.
