Jon Dunn ReportingYou can't call 911 for you pet, but you can take a class for pet first aid.

Cheryl Gren with the Salt Lake chapter of the Red Cross instructs students in the proper way to perform CPR on a cat or dog.

"For a lot of us, the pet is part of our family. So we need to know how to respond when the emergency involves the animal," says Gren.

Gren says after an accident, it may take a while to get to a veterinarian. Her class teaches about the emergency medical information needed to possibly save the animal's life. The class costs $35 and you can register through the link above.
