(KSL News) The Democratic Party Chairman of Summit County pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and assault on a police officer.

In addition to that, Rob Weyher also says he did not interfere with a police officer, display disorderly conduct or speed.

Weyher was arrested on misdemeanor charges on April 28th near Kimball Junction.

A UHP trooper says he smelled alcohol on Weyher's breath, and when he gave Weyher a sobriety test, Weyher became combative.

Weyher's attorneys call the arrest a misunderstanding. The county Democratic committee voted to retain Weyher.
