(KSL News) -- Before the rain started coming down this morning, volunteers, including some boy scouts, set out to mark Veterans' graves at the Salt Lake Cemetery.
They placed more than 14-hundred flags on headstones of fallen Veterans, honoring those as far back as the Spanish American War and the Mormon Battalion.
Raymond Tracy, Veterans of Foreign Wars: "There's another one up here. This gentleman was a lieutenant in the US Navy. He also served in World War II."
Veterans says it's nice to have volunteers help out since every year there are more graves to honor and fewer veterans to mark them.
Lee Adamson, Volunteer: "It's not traveling or vacationing, it's being able to do something for those who gave their lives, and remember them."
The 'Veterans of Foreign Wars tries to mark every veteran grave around the valley each year for Memorial Day.
