(KSL News) -- He fought the war on drugs, but today we learned a Midvale Police Officer lost his battle with cancer.

We first told you the courageous story of Detective Jose Argueta. He spoke to us from his hospital bed several weeks ago.

Esophageal cancer had spread. Argueta blamed exposure to toxic chemicals during meth lab raids.

An ongoing Eyewitness News Investagation has uncovered dozens of Utah narcotics officers with cancers and other strange symptoms.

Detective Argueta was 32-years old. His family has planned funeral service for next Tuesday at Hillcrest High School.
