Gene Kennedy Reporting A domestic dispute that would have just ended in misdeameanor citations turns into much more.

A man has been arrested this morning for what he did at a Salt Lake City home overnight. It's another domestic violence incident that escalated.

If the man in this story would have complied, he would have been told just to show up at court. But instead, he took his emotions a step further.

A woman living with him called 911 after the two got into a fight. When police arrived, the man in question pushed the woman down the front porch stairs and slammed the door on police officers.

The man did not show any weapons, but police were concerned for the couple's five-year-old child still inside the house.

Officers spent 45 minutes talking to the man through a window, but he wouldn't come out. Instead, he started barricading the front door. Police forced their way in and fired what's called a non-lethal round.

Police say it's basically a foam round. It's the equivalent of a baton srike from arm's reach.

Police say the suspect suffered some bruising from that non-lethal round, but was treated and taken to Salt Lake County jail.

The suspect is a 29-year-old man from Salt Lake City. Police have dealt with him before. All that drama results in just misdemeanor charges.
