(KSL News) -- A motorcycle wreck on northbound I-15 sent a man to the hospital with serious head injuries.

Troopers say the motorcycle was changing lanes on I-15 near 4800 South during the morning commute and didn't notice the slow down ahead of him. He lost control of his bike and slid into a car in front of him.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Sgt. Mike Wells, Utah Highway Patrol: "A helmet would have made all the difference in this one. That was the majority of his injuries was due to head trauma."

Officials closed all but one lane of traffic in the area.

The victim was flown to University Medical Center in serious condition.
