Kathy Chambers: "Parents should never leave their kids alone in cars. I don't care what the weather is like outside, they should never leave their kids alone in their cars."

Salt Lake County Injury Prevention Manager Kathy Chambers says temperatures can reach deadly levels very quickly.

Over the weekend a father left his six-year old son in a car while going in to a store. Another person saw the child as he went in the store and then saw the child still in the car when they came out. By that time, the child was crying and sweating profusely.

Kathy Chambers: "It's much more dangerous to children than it is to adults because their core temperature increases three to five times faster than an adult's."

Luckily the child recovered, but the father was cited for failure to supervise a child.
