Ashley Hayes Reporting In less than a day, the jury in the Sergio Ramos-Trujillo trial has come back with a verdict.
The Mexican national was charged with killing a co-worker outside Elberta. The jury found Sergio Ramos- Trujillo guilty of first degree murder for killing Jorge Corona last September.
After three days of listening to witness testimony and reviewing the evidence, an eight person jury found Ramos-Trujillo guilty.
Ramos-Trujillo worked with the victim on an Elberta dairy farm. Witnesses say the men got into a fight the day before Corona's murder.
For prosecuters that's all they needed to prove intent.
Randy Kennard, Prosecutor: "Anytime you have a killing that's one day removed from an incident that involves a dispute, it tends in our belief to lessen the belief that it was based on self defense."
The defense argued Ramos-Trujillo's actions stemmed from his upbringing in Mexico. They contend he was acting out of machismo, or male pride.
In one day the jury once again found Ramos-Trujillo guilty of first degree murder.
The convicted killer will face sentencing next month. Trujillo will serve that sentence here in the U.S. before being deported.
