Ashley Hayes Reporting A broken pipe in one condominium sent water flowing through the complex and kept neighbors up most the night.

This is not the way you want to start off your week. For the folks living at the complex near 800 East South Temple, it's going to be a long Monday.

Firefighters say a busted pipe sent water shooting through a hidden sprinkler inside one of the unit's ceilings.

Authorities estimate thousands of gallons poured through the complex. At it's worst, two inches of water filled the first floor.

Residents helped sop up the mess with towels and waited inside the stairwell as firefighters used wet vacs and scuigis to remove the water.

The good news in all this is that no one had to move.

Michael Andrew, Battalion Chief, Salt Lake City Fire Dept.: "No displacements. As far as the dollar amount, we're going to be replacing sheet rock and probably hardwood flooring in the condo of origin."

Andrews says he's not sure what caused the leak. The sprinkler was hidden by sheet rock, and that is against code. Firefighters are looking into it as part of their investigation.
