Gene Kennedy Reporting Angry words between husband and wife led to a disturbing 911 call and then a standoff with police.

Sheriff's deputies say even though the husband knocked the phone out of his wife's hand, the line was still open. The dispatcher could hear the whole thing.

The arguing continued. It then turned physical and the dispatcher heard all of it through the open phone line.

The husband, Anthony Doyle, kicked his wife and kids out of their Payson home. Sheriff's deputies say he then barricaded himself inside the house around 10:00.

In the midst of it all, deputies felt it was best to evacuate neighbors.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff's Dept.: "The information we had is there were handguns plus a high-powered rifle in the home. When we have those kinds of weapons, they can easily reach beyond the home they're in, so we like to move people away from at least several houses nearby."

At one point, Doyle called his mother, telling her he didn't want to die but didn't want to come out either.

Meantime, SWAT had surrounded the house waiting it out for three hours.

Finally around 1:00 this morning, negotiators got through to the man, persuading him to peacefully give up.

Neighbors went back home and authorities took the suspect into custody. He'll face domestic charges and most likely other charges in connection with that standoff.
