A two million dollar loss in taxes, that's what's facing South Salt Lake City leaders because of the new law. The law changes how sales tax is distributed back to cities from the state.
Down the road in Murray, Mayor Dan Snarr says he's proposing a forty percent tax hike to cover the 1.5 million dollars they're going to lose.
Mayor Dan Snarr: "We're not going to let the infrastructure go down the tubes, so to speak. We've got to stay on top of that because that's really an important investment.
Riverdale, Vernal and Park City are also debating how to cover significant sales tax losses.
