BOUNTIFUL — A 13-year-old Bountiful girl who went missing Tuesday afternoon was found safe Wednesday morning, police said.
Kayla Leatherman had been in contact with an adult man who she met through social media and Bountiful police believed she may have been on her way to Idaho to meet him when she went missing. She had last been seen Tuesday after school near 500 N. Main before she was found Wednesday. Leatherman's parents located her at 7 a.m. walking in Bountiful near her high school, police said.
It was not immediately released where she had been, but police are still investigating.
Officials said it was determined the man she had been messaging was still in Idaho and the conversation between the two of them online did not seem inappropriate.
****UPDATE ****Kayla Leatherman returned home this morning. We want to thank all those involved in helping us locate her.
