SALT LAKE CITY — Parents and children enjoyed the kick-off to Archaeology and Preservation Month at Salt Lake Community College's south campus Saturday, learning about the state's historic places and the way those who came before them lived their lives.
“This annual event is a wonderful way for families to connect to Utah’s unique past,” said Brad Westwood, Director Utah State History. “Humans have called the area of modern Utah home for over 10,000 years. Archaeology and Preservation Month can help all of us celebrate our heritage," he said in a release announcing the event.
Children practiced corn grinding, studied the rings in trees to learn about their lifespans, and took part in a host of other crafts and educational activities. For a complete list of the more than 30 activities that will take place during the month of May, see the Utah Division of State History website.
