STARKVILLE, Mississippi — Chris Smith and Darius scored 14 points each, but Utah State men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, 71-63, to Mississippi State Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (3-0) overcame a 38-34 halftime deficit. It was the first time the Aggies (3-1) took the lead into the locker room in 2014-15. Utah State used a 9-5 spurt that included a pair of 3-pointers by Perkins to take the halftime lead.
Jalen Moore added 13 points and three rebounds for Utah State, that was outrebounded 33-16 by the Bulldogs.
Roquez Johnson and Fred Thomas each scored 15 points to lead Mississippi State, and Gavin Ware added 12 points.
The Aggies wrap up a two-game road trip at UC Davis Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. MT.
