ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkey's electoral board has rejected a complaint by the main pro-Kurdish party accusing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of violating rules that require him to be impartial.
Wednesday's decision comes a month before Turkey's June 7 general election. State-run Anadolu Agency says the board's decision was unanimous.
The People's Democratic Party, or HDP, had asked the board on Tuesday to warn Erdogan and to ensure that he remains neutral.
Erdogan headed the ruling AKP party until his election as president in August. He wants Turkey to switch to a system where the president wields executive powers and has increasingly been appearing at rallies where he criticizes opposition parties.
Erdogan insists he is at an "equal distance" to all parties but says he has a special affection toward AKP.
