PROVO, Utah (AP) — Allegiant Air has announced it will start offering nonstop flights from Provo to San Diego.

The new route announced Tuesday will start operating Sept. 28.

The flights between Provo Municipal Airport and San Diego International Airport will run twice per week throughout the year.

One-way fares for the route start at $45. The airline is also giving away a number of free tickets for the first Sept. 28 flight as part of a summer promotion.

The new service adds to Allegiant's current offerings from Provo, which includes nonstop flights to Los Angeles, Phoenix/Mesa and Oakland/San Francisco.
