AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn fire officials are investigating the cause of an early morning fire that closed one of the major buildings on the Auburn University campus Monday.

Auburn campus officials said in an alert to students and employees that all classes Monday in Lowder Hall had been canceled for Monday.

Firefighters responded to the fire in the 5 a.m. hour, Auburn University spokesman Mike Clardy told the Opelika-Auburn News. The blaze was put out by 7 a.m., authorities said. No injuries were reported.

"Today is the first day of the second mini-mester, and there were a number of classes scheduled to be held in that building," Clardy said.

Lowder Hall, on the northern edge of Auburn's main campus, houses several classes and offices of the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business.

Classes being held in Lowder are expected to resume tomorrow at different locations across campus. A list of alternate class locations was expected to be released later Monday, Clardy said.

"It's doubtful the building will be serviceable for the next couple of days," Clardy said.
