INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis high school has hired an attorney to conduct an independent investigation into a former basketball coach accused of trying to entice a 15-year-old student into a sexual relationship.

Thirty-one-year-old Kyle Cox faces federal charges of coercion and enticement. Cox was also a chemistry teacher at Park Tudor, one of Indiana's most prestigious private schools.

He's accused of sending sexually explicit online messages, texts and photos to the student and trying to arrange for her to visit his home in the suburb of Fishers for sexual activity in mid-December. He has not yet entered a plea.

Park Tudor's board of directors said in a letter to parents and faculty Friday that attorney Larry Mackey will also review the school's handling of the matter.
