GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. (AP) — Administrators at a private residential school for boys with autism and behavioral disorders have fired four employees after five staff members were charged in an investigation into the abuse of students.
The Eagleton School in Great Barrington announced the firings Thursday.
Four employees were charged last month with assault and battery on a disabled person, while a fifth was charged with intimidating a witness and obstructing justice.
Two employees who were charged have been fired. The other three have been suspended. All have pleaded not guilty. Two of the fired workers were not arrested.
The school also said it has hired a consultant to evaluate the clinical, education and residential dimensions of the school.
No regulatory action has been taken against the school and its programs remain running.
