CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Caldwell police have arrested a man accused of breaking into the bedroom of a 16-year-old girl, who brandished a knife and prevented the intruder from accessing the rest of the home.
Police arrested 26-year-old Ricky Herrera, of Burley, after a foot chase near the home early Thursday. The 26-year-old suspect has been booked into the Canyon County Jail on several charges, including unlawful entry.
Officers were dispatched to the area after reports that a man had possibly been breaking into cars when Jessica Hoffman reported a break-in at her home.
Hoffman says the suspect had entered her 16-year-old daughter's bedroom. She says the girl pulled out a knife on the intruder, and he fled out the window.
Officers later located Herrera and took him into custody.
