ROSCOMMON, Mich. (AP) — More than 120 Detroit high school students will learn the importance of sustainable forest management to the state.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says the teens will visit Roscommon in the northern Lower Peninsula Monday and Tuesday.
They also will tour Hartwick Pines State Park near Grayling and learn about Michigan's logging legacy, tree planting and old-growth preservation.
The Green Corps members water, weed and take care of trees planted in Detroit by The Greening of Detroit, a nonprofit environmental group.
