DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Food Policy Council is hosting an annual summit as part of efforts to help improve access to high-quality food in the city.

The "Detroit Food 2015" event takes place at Focus: HOPE and runs through Thursday.

As part of the gathering, more than 100 middle school and high school students from Detroit will hold a workshop to discuss the effects of hunger and malnutrition on young people in the city. They'll also work to develop ideas and policies to address the problem.

The event also seeks ways to boost employment in Detroit and contribute to the long-term well-being of the environment.
