COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The gift shop at Columbus' main library is closing until summer 2016 as the building undergoes renovations.
The Columbus Metropolitan Library announced the store is shutting down Tuesday as preparations are made for building improvements to begin in February. The grand old structure on Grant Street in downtown Columbus will receive environmental upgrades and other improvements as part of the library system's multi-phased building program.
The library store is offering 25 percent off all merchandise to Friends of the Library ahead of its final day.
Spokesman Gregg Dodd said the library's renovation will reinvent and revitalize the entire 600,000 square feet maintained by the library, which includes the library, administrative offices and a parking garage.
The building program has also included renovations at other library locations around the city.
