RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno's unseasonably warm weather will soon come to an end with the arrival of a storm expected to drop temperatures and produce a chance of rain and snow.
The National Weather Service says Reno's overnight low of 41 degrees on Thursday broke the record for the highest minimum temperature for the date of 39 degrees set in 1899.
The city's overnight low of 39 degrees on Friday fell short of the record 44 degrees for the date set in 1986.
Weather Service meteorologist Edan Weishahn says more seasonable temperatures will return after the first of a string of storms hits the region on Friday night.
The storm was expected to leave from 8 to 16 inches of snow at higher elevations around Lake Tahoe by Sunday morning.
