OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A Utah man accused in the death of his girlfriend's 14-month-old daughter at an Ogden motel will have a preliminary hearing in January.
Twenty-three-year-old Adam Joseph Barney is facing an aggravated murder change in the case.
Police say he punched and squeezed Kenzie Rose La Buy until she stopped crying. Prosecutors say Barney was watching the toddler and other children while their mother was at work.
The Ogden Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1rmsB3L) a judge set the preliminary hearing during a court appearance Wednesday.
Prosecutors are expected to present their evidence for a judge to decide whether Barney should stand trial.
Barney's attorney had no immediate comment on the case.
