RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — N.C. State University's trustees are recommending a 3 percent tuition hike for in-state students in each of the next two years.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports (http://bit.ly/1xD5L8d ) that a 6 percent yearly increase is recommended for out-of-state undergraduates.
The trustees' unanimous vote Friday means that students from North Carolina would pay $6,400 for tuition in fall 2016, while out-of-state students would pay nearly $24,000. Student fees also would increase.
The recommended increases must be voted on by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors. Other colleges in the system also are proposing increases.
The Board of Governors has capped tuition hikes for in-state students at 5 percent annually.
