YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Faculty members at a northeast Ohio university have voted to authorize a strike as the school and the faculty union work to reach a contract agreement.
WKBN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1rllCC8 ) the faculty union at Youngstown State University voted Wednesday to authorize a strike, which allows a bargaining committee to submit a 10-day strike notice to the state. The faculty also approved a vote of no confidence in the university's board of trustees and administration.
Faculty members have been working without a contract since mid-August. Health care coverage has remained a sticky issue throughout negotiations.
The two sides are scheduled to meet again to negotiate on Oct. 28, and a strike notice could be issued in November if no agreement is reached.
