EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University has announced a $10 million gift for athletics — the department's largest single donation.

The East Lansing school said Thursday the facilities gift from alumni Bob and Julie Skandalaris is for football, basketball and golf. Bob Skandalaris is a business executive and investor who also helps lead the school's capital campaign.

The campaign's official launch comes Friday at the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts. The goal of the fundraising drive is expected to be approved by the university's Board of Trustees earlier Friday.

University officials say the campaign event includes the announcement of another "8-figure" financial gift and the performance of a musical piece composed by Tony Award-winning alumnus William David Brohn. Basketball coach Tom Izzo is among those expected to attend.
