POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A 17-year-old Spokane boy drowned while swimming with friends Thursday night at Black Bay in the Spokane River at Post Falls.

The Kootenai County sheriff's office says he was swimming with friends about 10 p.m. when he called out he could not swim anymore. He slipped under water and did not come back up.

Divers from the sheriff's office found him about 100 feet from shore. He was taken to Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene where he was pronounced dead.

He's identified by the sheriff's office as 17-year-old Trey D. Daley of Spokane.
