SOUTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Officials have dropped charges related to a failed suicide attempt by a former Boy Scout leader who is in prison after being convicted of sexual exploitation of minors.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1qpsfUv ) that Kenneth William Prince was charged with reckless endangerment after he tried to kill himself by ingesting mercury. It happened the day after he was arrested in September on five counts of sexual exploitation of minors, all related to child porn.
Cache County prosecutors asked for the charges to be dismissed because Prince is already serving a significant prison sentence.
In May, he was sentenced to five consecutive terms of 1-15 years.
Prince was a junior high teacher for 28 years in South Ogden until 2008. He was a Boy Scouts leader up until 2003.
