TEANECK, N.J. (AP) — Four of the 63 students charged after a prank at a New Jersey high school have appeared in court to face disorderly persons charges.

Lawyers for three of the teens on Wednesday requested new court dates to give them time to review evidence.

The Record (http://bit.ly/1mMBO1F ) newspaper reports the fourth Teaneck High School student chose to enter a pretrial intervention program for first-time offenders. The judge ordered her to pay $158 in court fees and to stay out of trouble for six months.

The county prosecutor downgraded charges and has said the students are eligible for programs that allow first-time offenders to walk away without criminal records.

Police have said the May 1 prank caused widespread vandalism in the school that included graffiti and overturned desks and chairs.
