NEW LONDON, N.H. (AP) — Some residents of a New London nursing home are still looking for new places to live as the facility's closing date nears.
New London Hospital plans to close the William P. Clough Extended Care Center on Sept. 30.
Hospital officials tell The Valley News (http://bit.ly/2acgyQD ) that 19 people still live at the 45-year-old nursing home, including two who are expected to move by the end of the week.
Karen Zurheide, a hospital vice president, says everything is going smoothly and residents have accepted the situation.
The hospital decided to close Clough after determining it required a $6 million to $7 million renovation. Zurheide says the nursing home additionally cost the hospital's bottom line $1 million each year.
Residents and their family have criticized hospital officials for their haste.
