LAS VEGAS (AP) — MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren says a new internal company plan is expected to cut costs and boost revenue to bring in an additional $300 million annually in earnings before taxes and other costs to pay down debt. MGM Resorts owns nine casino-resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and a stake in the CityCenter complex of hotels, casinos and shopping.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge says former Boulder Police Chief Thomas Finn must pay damages to a lawyer he sued after being accused of illegally directing officers to delete emails about preparations for a June 2012 Mongols biker club visit. Attorney Stephen Stubbs claims vindication in the Clark County District Court order, issued July 30. Finn's attorney says he may appeal.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas man accused of staging car crashes and defrauding insurance companies of more than $10,000 has pleaded guilty. The Las Vegas Sun reports that 26-year-old Martin Curiel-Guerra claimed to be the driver in three staged crashes and enabled co-conspirators to make false insurance claims between May and June of 2012.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Burning Man organizers will not allow hobbyist drones at this year's festival and will limit the use of other drones. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the event will provide permits for drones used for media coverage, event operations, art documentation or art performance, but no other purposes.
