LONDON (AP) — One of London's most recognizable office buildings has been put up for sale.

The Norman Foster-designed tower, nicknamed The Gherkin for its distinctive pickle-like shape, is expected to generate interest all over the globe.

Accountancy firm Deloitte LLP was appointed receiver of the skyscraper this year after one of the building's owners, Germany's Immobilien AG, went into bankruptcy protection.

IVG and Evans Randall bought the tower in early 2007 for 600 million pounds from insurer Swiss Re, a record at the time for a building in London's financial district, known as the City.

The 40-story office currently has 20 tenants, including Swiss Re, Kirkland & Ellis International LLP and ION Trading.
