SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah has extended its series with BYU in football, the two programs announced Thursday.
The agreement between the two programs has been extended through 2022, with each game being played at home every other season. The announcement is a two-year addition to a previous agreement to play through 2020, which was announced on Sept. 16, 2015.
“This game has a great deal of interest throughout the state and both schools worked hard to find dates in 2021 and 2022, even as long-term scheduling has become very difficult,” Utah Director of Athletics Chris Hill said in a prepared statement.
The two resumed play earlier this year following a two-year hiatus in the regular-season schedule. Utah will travel to BYU next season, with both schools rotating on a home-and-home basis.
The schedule is as follows:
- Sept. 9, 2017 - Provo
- Nov. 24, 2018 - Salt Lake City
- Aug. 29, 30 or 31, 2019 - Provo
- Sept. 3, 4 or 5, 2020 - Salt Lake City
- Sept. 11, 2021 - Provo
- Sept. 3, 2022 - Salt Lake City
