LOGAN — Utah State wanted to show it can run the ball in its second spring scrimmage.

Boy, did they.

Justen Hervey led a stable of rushers with 38 yards and a touchdown on eight carries as the Aggies showed a commitment to the ground game with 138 yards on 28 carries Friday night at Maverik Stadium.

Tonny Lindsey also carried the ball eight times for 36 yards, and LaJuan Hunt and Gerold Bright each rushed for a touchdown apiece for Utah State.

Kent Myers completed 3-of-9 passes for 67 yards, including a 50-yard TD toss to Dax Raymond on the first play of the scrimmage. Cade Smith made 3-of-4 throws for 21 yards with a 10-yard TD pass to Landon Horne in the final offensive series of the night.

On the defensive side, Christopher ‘Unga and Jake Templeton each registered a sack, and Siua Taufa blocked a field goal attempt. Zach Swenson led the Aggies with five tackles, and Alex Huerta recorded four.
