ONEIDA COUNTY, Idaho — A woman arrested in Idaho on Tuesday on suspicion of fraud may have victimized additional people in Utah, investigators said.
Jean Marie Meyers, also known by the last name of McDonald, was arrested after promising an "older" couple in Idaho a large sum of money under false pretenses, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. Investigators said it appeared Myers offered numerous people in northern Utah and southeastern Idaho between $300,000 and $11 million as a part of a scam.
"At least one victim provided all of their personal information to Meyers in order to open a bank account to receive several hundred thousand dollars," a statement from the sheriff's office reads.
Meyers reportedly told people the money they would receive was from lottery winnings and property sales, among other sources. Multiple people in Utah were targeted, according to documents obtained by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized to contact the Oneida County Sheriff's Office by calling 208-766-2251.
