SALT LAKE CITY — A storm system from the Northwest that began dumping rain on northern Utah Friday night continued through Sunday and was not expected to finish until Monday night.

Some areas of Northern Utah got up to an inch of rain and the mountains got a foot of new snow on Sunday. An additional half-inch to inch of rain was predicted for the Salt Lake Valley Sunday night through Monday and another foot of snow in the mountains. The high bench areas might also see some snow for the Monday morning commute.

The Utah Avalanche Center said the avalanche danger would be high on steep slopes above 8,000 feet through Monday.
