SALT LAKE CITY — San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle has always been a key cog in his team’s defense.

Whether at Utah or in the NFL, Weddle has consistently been a star performer at every level of football he’s played at. Against the New York Jets, Weddle made four tackles as the Chargers beat up the Jets, 31-0.

Other Utah defensive alumni registering stats in week five of the NFL season include Pittsburgh’s Brice McCain, who returned an interception for a touchdown in the Steelers’ 17-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Also, Atlanta’s Paul Soliai made four tackles in a 30-20 loss to the New York Giants, and Tenny Palepoi made a tackle for the Chargers in their win over the New York Jets.
