SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — Police in Memphis, Tennessee, say one of their off-duty officers has shot a person at a home in the nearby Mississippi city of Southaven.

Southaven police say in a news release that they answered a Monday afternoon call from a man who said he shot an intruder at a Southaven residence.

Responding officers found a person on the driveway of the residence with a gunshot wound.

Lt. Mark Little of Southaven police said the man was reported in stable condition at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. Police did not immediately release the identities of anyone involved.

Neighbors told Memphis television stations that the officer was in the house with two small children when the break-in occurred.
