LAYTON — A Utah soldier was killed in an accident Tuesday in Fort Riley, Kan.

Spc. Ryan Christensen, 29, of Layton, was killed in a vehicular-related accident at Fort Riley's motor pool, according to a military release. The incident is under investigation.

Christensen was a petroleum supply specialist in the 101st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

"Two families suffered a great loss yesterday — Ryan's and ours," said Col. John W. Reynolds II of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team. "We continue to provide support to both as we begin to come to terms with this tragedy."

Fort Riley is known as the "Home of the Big Red One," or the 1st Infantry Division, which dates back to 1917.
