MINERSVILLE, Beaver County — One cabin was threatened as the lightning-caused Black Mountain Fire spread to 750 acres Tuesday night.
Interagency resources from Color Country in southern Utah were being used to fight the fire that began around 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Bureau of Land Management
A Type III Team from Color Country has been assigned to the fire, officials said. A Type III Team is made up of 10-20 trained firefighters from various agencies who work on large-scale and/or complicated issues, according to FEMA.
Four fire engines, two water tankers and two hand crews are fighting the fire on land. The are joined by one type III helicopter, one air attack platform, three single-engine air tankers and other overhead resources, the BLM said. More resources are being sent to the scene.
The fire is burning about three miles southeast of Minersville and can be seen from Cedar City.
Maple Springs, Black Mountain and Camel Hollow roads are closed to the public because of the fire.
