COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — An elderly woman who was hit by a driver backing out of his driveway has died as a result of her injuries.
Sheralyn Quinney, 75, was walking on the sidewalk with her husband at about noon Tuesday in the area of 3646 E. Supernal Way (8200 South), according to Sgt. Gary Young with Cottonwood Heights Police Department.
A male driver in his 30s backing out of his driveway hit the woman at a low speed. She was knocked over and sustained "very serious or critical" injuries to the head in the fall, according to Young.
The woman's husband performed CPR on his wife until paramedics arrived. She was taken to Intermountain Medical Center for treatment and spent the next hours recovering in the ICU, Young said.
Young confirmed that she died due to complications from her injuries at about 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing and there is no word on any citations or charges for the driver.
More information will be posted when it becomes available.
