ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — SUNY Fredonia has formally opened a new $60 million science facility focusing on chemistry, biology, environmental science and other disciplines.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the dedication of the science center on Friday.

The three-story, 92,000-square-foot facility contains classrooms and laboratories. SUNY Fredonia President Virginia Horvath says the building was designed to reflect the latest in science education and allows visitors to observe the laboratories as they're used by students.

Founded in 1826, SUNY Fredonia had an enrollment of 5,214 students this fall.
