BOISE, Idaho (AP) — First time Democratic candidate Nels Mitchell is running against Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Risch, who is seeking a second six-year term. With more money and name recognition, Risch has held a strong lead throughout the campaign. Risch has accused Mitchell of being a clone of President Barack Obama.

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — A judge is rejecting a request for a new trial for a 27-year-old Bellevue woman convicted of killing her parents. The Idaho Mountain Express reports that Sarah Johnson says new analytical techniques for DNA evidence could clear her of the murders. Johnson was 16 in 2003 when her parents were shot to death.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise police are searching for a person who stole a vehicle that had a 1-year-old boy inside. The vehicle had been left running at a gas station near 27th and Main Streets when it was stolen this morning. Police say they found the car and child unharmed less than two miles away.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A new dome has been placed on the nearly 100-year-old Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Pocatello. The Idaho State Journal reports that a crane lifted the new structure onto the 1915 church yesterday. Plans call for replacing the 12 temporary windows in the dome with the original stained glass from the old dome.
