Outlook

Expect a mostly dry and sunny day on Wednesday with highs peaking near 80 along the Salt Lake Valley. If we hit the 80 mark, that'll be our second of the year and is 16 degrees above normal. A cool down begins Thursday as a smaller storm moves into Utah and will bring light rain and a chance for thunder, mainly for northern Utah and the Wasatch Front -slight chance for showers in SE Utah. A second, stronger storm will move in Friday morning, bringing widespread showers and storms across the entire state with snow above 7000ft for much of the day. The storm may linger showers across eastern Utah on Saturday, and then fully exit the region by Sunday, however there is still some uncertainty on the timing of its exit. Water amounts look to be around 1 inch in the valleys by Saturday afternoon and 1.5+ inches in the mountains. As a result of the rain, temperatures will fall below average into the 50s to end the week and start the weekend. - Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 4.23.24
