(KSL Team Coverage) One of the Trolley Square shooting victims was laid to rest today. The funeral for 15-year-old Kirsten Hinckley was delayed so that her mother could attend.
Kirsten was shopping with her mother, Carolyn Tuft, on February 12 when Suljemen Talovic walked into Cabin Fever and shot them. Hinckley was killed, and her mother was badly injured.
The family wanted to postpone services so Tuft could attend her daughter's funeral. Tuft was released from the hospital Monday and spoke at the funeral.
Kelvyn Cullimore, Cottonwood Heights Mayor: "This is one of those tragedies that has tentacles that reach very far. You may not have been at Trolley Square but very few people have been unaffected by this."
Jim Winder, Salt Lake County Sheriff: "From a community perspective, these things have the unusual benefit, if one can use that term, of showing us that we do live in kind of a small town. Salt Lake is growing, but people know each other and support each other through this very critical time, so healing in that regard is moving ahead."
Services were held this afternoon at 2:00 at the Butler Stake Center.
