Spencer Moody: "Emotionally we're still getting over things, and each day seems to be a little better."

Pregnant Teen Turns Herself In to Police

Not a day goes by that Spencer Moody and his wife don't think about the three teenage girls they once cared for.

Spencer Moody: "They need to be safe right now, then we'll go from there."

Moody was relieved to learn the 15-year-old from California turned herself in. Police say she returned to American Fork with her mother.

Spencer Moody: "We're grateful for that and I hope the other girls will do the same thing."

It's been two weeks since the three pregnant teenagers attacked Moody's wife. They hit her on the head with a frying pan, tied her up, put a sock in her mouth and wrapped duct tape around her head. Then they stole her purse and her minivan. Police later found that minivan abandoned in the Los Angeles area.

Spencer Moody: "I'm certainly angry about what they did, but you get attached to the girls when they're there, and that just doesn't leave. So in my heart I can't say that I have anger at all."

He hopes the 15-year-old will give police information that will lead them to the other teens, who are also expecting. Today police made this plea to them.

Sgt. Shauna Greening, American Fork Police Dept.: "The main thing is we'd like them to turn themselves in. We're worried about them, being out there, if they are living on the streets or how they are getting by."

Moody and his wife ran the New Hope Maternity Home, a private center to house struggling, pregnant girls, for three years. They were planning to shut down at the end of the year to spend more time with family, but after the attack they decided to close their doors early. They have hope for the girls.

Spencer Moody: "I still believe that they can learn from this and change their lives around and do better."

The 15-year-old suspect was booked into a juvenile detention center. Police are still looking for her 15 and 16-year-old accomplices, from Texas and Illinois. They all face multiple charges, including aggravated assault and robbery.
